The new artistic directors of Tanzquartier Wien, Isabel Lewis and Rio Rutzinger, invite to an open house from 6 to 11 October. For one week, all rooms of the building will be open for performances, workshops, labs and concerts \u2013 freely accessible and with free admission. Visitors are invited to discover the diverse programme of local artists, theorists and musicians and to try it out for themselves.<\/p>\n

Shaken Grounds<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 a collective of artists Nikolaus Gansterer, Mariella Greil, Peter Kozek and Lucie Strecker in collaboration with Victor Jaschke and Werner Moebius \u2013 will open their laboratory\u00a0Shaken Grounds: Trembling Bodies<\/em>\u00a0at the TQW Studios<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a08.10. from 15:00-18:00<\/strong>\u00a0and invites visitors to a screening of the short film\u00a0Shaken Grounds, Shifting Skies<\/em>. The film explores the unstable terrain of the Campi Flegrei, Vesuvius, the island of Vulcano in Italy and the retreating Pasterze glacier in Austria. Interwoven with studio scenes and reflective questions, the performative-choreographic film explores how tremors and changes in the environment reverberate in the body and psyche. The focus is on seismic zones where tectonic instability is increasingly influenced by human activities: climate change, groundwater extraction, mining and littering. The film offers a poetic journey through landscapes that are both ancient and contemporary, asking where \u2013 and how \u2013 we find stability when the earth’s crust beneath us is shifting. Following the presentation, we invite the audience to participate in a discussion, somatic practice, and the joint drawing of a seismographic line.<\/p>\n

The research explores the archive as a haunted terrain, where voice emerges as a potent site of resistance and reactivation. Merging performance, sound art, and archival inquiry, it seeks to reanimate the spectral residues of voices historically marginalized or erased.
Engaging in dialogue with early sound recordings\u2014most notably those preserved in Vienna\u2019s Phonogrammarchiv\u2014the work traces the sonic afterlives of women who, between the 19th and 20th centuries, unsettled the boundaries between language, embodiment, and otherness. Mediums, somnambulists, hysterics, illusionists: their vocal expressions defied classification, resisting the scientific and cultural frameworks that sought to pathologize, stage, or silence them.<\/p>

Bio
Gaia Ginevra Giorgi is an Italian artist and researcher working within the field of performing arts and sound-art. Her practice integrates writing, sound, voice, and performative devices. Drawing from a feminist, ecological, and situated approach, she develops investigative methodologies aimed at an affective and political rewriting of archives and landscapes, understood as territories of manipulation and power, but also as potential tools for counter-narration. Her interventions\u2014whether performances, installations, or workshop-based projects\u2014ephemeral habitats, spaces for embodied and radical imagination.

This solo work dwells into the tensions between power and bodily postures, authority and fascination for violence in contemporary culture. Through dance, sound, text and a glimpse of humour,\u00a0The line is a hole\u00a0questions the body as a material\/social\/public system which articulates itself and its representations in the often grotesque concurrence of multiple imaginaries. Inspired by feminist, anarchist, poetic texts by (among others) Cavarero, LaBoetie, Plath and the theory of white holes in physics, this work is an ode to holes as a figure of thought, a physiological place, a dark pit, a sweet absence, a space for plotting in present times.

bio: Francesco Corsi works between choreography, performance and visual arts. His research is an exploration of the body as a social\/material\/semiotic compost in its meeting with the world. His work has been shown in different formats in Venere in Teatro Festival (Venice), Peggy Guggenheim Collection (Venice), Base (Milan), WpZimmer (Antwerp). He has collaborated in various configurations with Michele Rizzo, Daniele Ninarello, Traslochi Emotivi, Pankaj Tiwari. With a background in philosophy, he holds a MA in Performance and Choreography from Iuav University of Venice and is currently completing the programme Dance, Context, Choreography at the Hochschul\u00fcbergreifendes Zentrum Tanz Berlin (Universit\u00e4t der K\u00fcnste).
