Wednesday practice 28.10.

Aleksandar Gabrovski
Workshop: University of applied magic – conversations  with the shadow

“Exploring the active force of language as a tool for creation and connection between forms of reality, we will discuss the theory and history of ritual from ancient age till modern times and try to perform the impossible, summon imaginary objects and beings and transform ourselves and the space together.”

Aleksandar Gabrovski is a poet and performance artist based between Bulgaria and Austria, whose work explores magic, language and ritual. His philosophy is that of the eternal play, and in everything he does he hopes to create brave spaces for mutual understanding and inspiration. He recently graduated from the Transmedia Art class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna (die Angewandte) and completed a course in therapeutic writing at Rabbithole Academy in Sofia. He currently works with poetry in open space while studying to become an art teacher. Aleksandar is the author of two poetry books, and he has exhibited and performed at numerous venues across Austria, Bulgaria and the wider European scene.

Wednesday Practice at the Angewandte Performance Laboratory (APL) is an open physical session everyone is welcome to join. Each week, invited artists share their practice while using the space to experiment, test, and develop new ideas.
